Our beloved members of Kappa Delta Pi,
As you all know by now, Oakland University has decided to suspend all in-person meetings at this time, per the guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Michigan State Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), Oakland County Health Division, and Oakland University public health safety experts.
Much like all of you, the e-Board of our chapter of Kappa Delta Pi has been watching closely as our state has declared a state of emergency and as schools and businesses across the state have begun to take action in response to the rapidly spreading virus. As always, we are committed to creating the best possible experience for all of the members of our organization and it is our belief that in order to keep our members and their families safe from the Coronavirus (COVID-19), social interaction/contact in both small and large groups should be limited in order to prevent the spread of the illness. As such, we have ultimately decided to cancel all remaining Winter 2020 meetings and events of Kappa Delta Pi at Oakland University. This includes the cancellation of our upcoming Literacy Night and book drive with Whitman Elementary School, New Member Initiation, Senior Celebration, and Resume Building Event. These events will not be rescheduled at this time.
It brings us all great sadness to have to resort to the cancelation of our events and meetings, but we feel it is the correct decision for the health of our members in light of recent events in our state.
If you are a new member that is looking to be initiated, a graduating senior that has reached "Kappa" level, or are interested in taking on an e-board position in the fall, please reach out to a member of the KDP e-board or email us at kappadeltapi@oakland.edu to discuss how we will proceed.
I wish all of you good health during this frightening and historical time. I hope to see you all soon.
Angela Goulet
Vice President
