Alpha Eta Psi Chapter at Oakland University

To be eligible for membership with KDP, the following requirements must be fulfilled:
Undergraduate Students:​

Have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher

A minimum of 24 credits

Have at least 6 credit hours programmed, in progress, or completed in education courses

Graduate Students:
​

Achieve full graduate standing at Oakland University

Have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher

A minimum of 6 credit hours of graduate coursework
-
Have at least 6 credit hours programmed, in progress, or completed in education courses

We send out an invitation e-mail at the beginning of each semester to all Oakland University students that meet our membership qualifications. Didn't get an e-mail but believe you still qualify? Let us know!
Becoming a member of Kappa Delta Pi is simple!
All members must complete the following:
1. Fill out Membership Applications
2. Pay International Dues
3. Attend the Initiation Ceremony

Paying Membership Dues
A person who has become a member of Kappa Delta Pi can always be a member of the Alpha Eta Psi chapter and the Society as long as BOTH of the International Society dues AND local chapter dues are paid. A member will not be excluded from either of these dues (a member may not pay only chapter dues). It is the responsibility of both new and current members to maintain these dues and pay them when necessary to either the International Society or the local chapter. The initiation fee is a ONE TIME payment.

To be considered an active member of Kappa Delta Pi, ALL candidates (new and returning) must pay the following dues:

International Dues
The cost of International Dues is $71.40 per year*, regardless of the time of acceptance into the chapter. This step is typically completed while members fill out the Kappa Delta Pi International application (see Membership Applications). This fee is to be paid directly through the KDP International website at the time of your application. Please note that the KDP International website may prompt you to pay local dues at the same time as your international dues, NEVER pay local dues on the national website. We DO NOT have local dues at this time. If Local dues are reinstated in the future, they are to be paid directly to a member of the chapter's executive board. Proof of payment (i.e. an e-mail confirmation, receipt, or membership card) must be provided to the Alpha Eta Psi chapter at Oakland University in order to be considered a member of the chapter.

*As a member of Kappa Delta Pi International, you may remain a member for as long as you would like at the international level regardless of your enrollment in classes or graduation status at Oakland University. That is, you can still maintain membership with Kappa Delta Pi even after you have graduated from OU and begun teaching in your own classroom!
Local Dues
For the 2022-2023 academic year we have eliminated local dues. We will be reconsidering if we need to bring them back at the end of the year.

Initiation Fee
The initiation fee is a requirement for new members only. An initiation fee for new members of the Alpha Eta Psi Chapter, to be paid prior to the initiation ceremony, is used to pay for initiation materials for the ceremony. This one-time fee of $5 may be paid via cash, check, or via marketplace.
Membership Applications
Much like how members are required to pay dues at an international and a local level, there are two applications that all members are required to complete. That is, all members must apply for membership through the KDP International website as well as apply for membership directly to the local chapter.

International Membership
Applying for membership at the International level is typically done at the same time as making international dues payments. This process is simple and is completed on the KDP International website (kdp.org).

Applying for membership of the Alpha Eta Psi chapter at Oakland University is as simple as filling out the form below and clicking submit! The form below will be sent directly to our e-mail. If you are having any issues please reach out at kappadeltapi@oakland.edu
Initiation Ceremony
Our chapter of Kappa Delta Pi holds initiations in both the winter and fall semesters. Attending the initiation is a requirement to be considered a member of our chapter. To find out when initiations are being held, check the calendar. If you cannot attend the initiation in the semester you are applying, please contact a member of the executive board by e-mailing us at kappadeltapi@oakland.edu to make alternative arrangements.
